I stumbled on this film on the Fans of Film site watched it and was impressed enough to think I should have a Film of the Week here on Video20Q and that this should be the first. I like the premise behind the film and it is well shot too. I reckon you will like it too. Always good to see something from British movie directors.

On Video20Q we like to do filmmaker interviews, cinematographer interviews, and talk about movie production. Let me know if you would like to be featured on the Video20Q Podcast

Mac20Q Podcast 58 Chatting to GazMaz from the UK about him and his Macs – There is no truth in the rumour that he is a fence for stolen iMac’s. It was just a terrible misunderstanding, “Honest officer.”. Get the full story in the podcast. Seriously though Gary had some bad luck there.

I asked him where he comes from and he replied “Cobblers” I said there’s no need to be rude. After that we went on to talk about kinky boots, as you do on such occasions.

What does a rugby referee tackle with his Mac? All the details in the scrum section of the podcast. The whole family are Mac users and seems that sometimes they have to fight over who gets to use the Mac Book or the Mac Mini. Gary also has a Mac Mini serving up his iTunes on a silver platter. Nice! he was telling me about his MyFi gadget which allows him to share a wifi signal coming in from a mobile network. Sweet gadget and I would really like one too.

Gary podcasts on For Mac Eyes Only with Mike Potter and does a stint now and the on IMP podcast. He even reviews applications for The Mac Reviewcast. I sent in another review of a podcast for that yesterday also.

It was through a recommendation from Gary that I got my hands on Hazel which is a super tool for keeping designated folders in order. If a file gets put in my downloads folder it is moved automatically to the pictures folder. You can set up a number of rules to take care of different types of files. Handy too that new files get a blue label to make them easier to find.

In the podcast I read an email from a listener in Scotland that had a terrible time with upgrading to Snow Leopard. Ended up being a hardware problem and she decided to get a new MacBookPro. Good excuse is what I say to get some new hardware.

The extra music for the podcast is by Louis Vig a track called ‘Can You Feel It’ You can find his work at louisvig.com

I found David on twitter where he is known as IndieMovieMaker. Seemed like a good plan to ask if he would like to be featured on the new Video 20 Questions Podcast. Really pleased he said yes and was quite enthusiastic. Goes without saying that if you are an independent indie movie maker you have to get the word out there in any way that you can.

David was a super first guest on the show and we had a great chat about movie making. he has been in the business fore many years having worked as an actor. Mission X is his second movie and is about a student of film getting caught up in some mercenary activity when he goes to video some guys just coming back from Iraq. David was looking for a gritty style for the film and from what he was telling me about how it was filmed, I don’t doubt that is the way it turned out.

David was the writer, producer, visionary, director, head tea boy and will be promoting too. he has plans to ge the film shown all across the UK and expects to be getting in contact with film students along the way too. So there will be a mixture of online and offline promotion of the movie. He got non actors in the movie as well as using actors.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Mission X behind the scenes with David

I enjoyed my chat with David and I learned a lot from it too. We mentioned Robert Rodriguez who had success with a small or no budget and was discovered in as much as he got Hollywood money after that to make more movies, and the director Roger Common that influenced Tarrantino amongst others. David is a believer in getting out movies with no budget so that it makes people be creative and innovative. In any case we all have to start somewhere.

David has been using TubeMogul to be able to get the movie clips out to as many online video sharing sites as possible. Saves a lot of time to get the movies distributed all with one upload. I have used it myself and I am impressed.

He is expecting to get the film out through Cineworld and get it shown in more places across the whole of the UK.
