I show you how I use Wire Tap Studio to record my interviews and get the output and two separate channels for editing in AmadeusPro. Why I use the lossless export that gives me a .mov file that I have to use other software to split into the two channels rather than just saving directly out. I have a nice work flow that does the job and gives me what I need to edit the interviews for Mac 2 Questions efficiently.

ScreenFlow 2 is ready for distribution and as I have been using the beta to test the new features I can attest that it is a super bit of software. I used it to make the last few screencasts for Mac 20 Questions.

He tells me what he does with his Macs and about how they get commandeered by his children. Not sure I believe that though, the evidence on his Mac Book Pros suggests he is a TellyTubbies fan.

James is keen to upgrade his computers one by one and has a notion that upgrading in time for Snow Leopard will be a good idea seeing as Snowy will be leaving behind the Power PC users.
In my ramble I talk about why I am pleased to have Godaddy onboard as a sponsor. I use the service and have done for a long time so it is the first name on my lips when I am asked about web hosting and domain names. With the installation service of applications like WordPress, Joomla, Wikis, Forums, and things like photo sites it makes it very easy.

The only thing I don’t like is the way they like to up sell you on all of the steps you go through to get to paying for your purchases. Not a problem if you know what you want, although the default option is always no to the upgrades, so you can’t get tricked into buying more. if you want to get hosting and you want my help then let me know and I can guide you through it step by step on Skype or IM.

In this interview I am talking to Donato Espositio. A Brummie of Italian extraction. He arrived at school knowing only italian because he only spoke italian at home. Now Italian is the second language and he speaks pure Brummie, to the extent of using the word Brummie as his signature and brand name. He goes by the name of BostinBloke on Twitter Get Your Twitter Productivity Tools Here and also iBostin. On his web site he has had professors explaining the origins of the word Bostin which apparently goes back to Shakespearean times. Who would have expected that then?

Donato gave a demonstration of his iFart app on the iPhone. Well he told me that it was using the application, it could have been live I suppose but we had better not go into that, at least he wasn’t complaining of any smells happening at the time. No – I believe him honest, really, cross my fart, I mean heart.

Donato has met the BBC presenter of the One Show Adrian Childs because he was filmed wearing one of the famous Bostin T shirts while covering the European football championship. Adrian is obviously proud of his West Midland heritage too. Naturally the conversation skirted around the football teams of the area seeing as Adrian is a Baggies fan, for his sins.

Donato has recently switched to the Mac and came in via seeing the one on one presentations that his son was having as part of learning to use his Mac. He also has a nephew that makes music on a Mac using Garageband. I was only a matter of time before Donato succumbed, and got down and dirty with iPhoto and the rest of iLife. He has spent many an happy hour putting in the names to the faces and is very fond of the geographic features implemented with the Geo tagging of photos from his camera. Ah! Happy days.

Not a huge podcast listener but has promised to at least to subscribe to this on in iTunes. What?? He hasn’t done that already?

I recommended the back up strategy as I use myself, Time Machine for the day to day backing up, followed by a once a week SuperDuper and the belt and braces is the important files being saved to the cloud using Mozy and DropBox. 2 GB of space available on each of those services for free. It doesn’t get much better than free does it.

Please make the trip to Donato’s sites Like Bostin Heroes to find out more about the West Midlands, Birmingham and the Black Country and buy a T shirt while you are there. Why? Because they are totally Bostin and you can’t help but smile while wearing one.

Paul is a karaoke type of DJ and encourages people to sing while drunk. At least he can put on the headphones and not be inflicted with the auditory pain of the pub singer. Honestly though, he says he enjoys doing it. Paul has a huge collection of songs which he manages on the Mac and uses an application called Kjams. Which is nothing to do with Jim Jams, or so I am told. Paul is even able to allow the karaoke singers use the iPhone to log in and chose the song they want to sing and get in a proper queue for belting out their tune, amazing I say.

Paul spent the whole of the interview talking on his iPhone, which was all right seeing as he was using the new Skype iPhone application to be interviewed and I have to say I was surprised that the audio was as good as it turned out to be. better than I have had with from some people with the Mac and a microphone.

Last Friday there was a meeting of the Mac 20 Questions in the GoToMeeting and a great time was had by all. For me I was testing the system and was able to show a few things with the sharing of my screen. Quite impressive really. We will have the next meeting in the Mac20Q town hall on Friday the 17th of April. be there or be square. First 15 people in the room.

I recorded the audio from last week using WireTap Studio and it worked for me so this week I will try to have some question set up and record it with a view to making it a podcast.

Next Monday I will be in Dublin and have arranged to meet with the Mac Craic lads if they can get a evening pass from the boss. Looks like we will meet up in the Aussie Bar in Parnell street. If there are people there I will perjhaps do some impromtu recording. Why not?

Michael is from Houston in Texas and has a plethora of Mac computers that he uses for business and pleasure. He makes training films using Final Cut Pro and is a heavy user of Aperture. Michael has a pedigree with Macs going back to the Apple 2. Obviously this amounts to a huge amount of experience with the Mac.

He tells us a little about using classic and changing to OS X. He is not keen on using a Mouse preferring to use a trackball. He uses a Heil PR40
and USB Edirol mixer to connect it up. He reckons his PR40 is the best mic to use when you consider the antique clocks he has chiming in the background from time to time.

I use a Samson C03U mic similar to the Samson Multi-pattern Condenser Mic
both are USB mics.
I recommended AmadeusPro to him and he said he is off to the shop to buy it after we finish recording. I even passed on some tips about selecting part of a sound wave to delete so that you don’t get and extra clicks in the audio.
He reckons that Adobe will probably take some time to get a version out for Snow Leopard because they can drag their feet a bit some times in reaction to new operating systems. Multi Threading is going to be the big thing with Snow leopard and being about to make use of the multi core computers.
He told me there is a huge difference between having 2GB and 4 GB in the MacBook. So I will have to do something about putting in the extra in my MacBook too.
The office he works in is a mixture of Macs and Windows and has to use MS Excel because it is the only spreadsheet that will open the spreadsheets that get sent to him. For his personal office type of thing he will use iWork. He wishes that it wasn’t totally necessary to revolve around microsoft products in business.
Not quite a cool aid drinker but will always recommend a Mac to people when the ask what sort of computer to get.
Michael likes to use Firefox for the add ons you can use and will sometimes go back to Safari and now and then Camino. Depends on which is working the best right now, and for now it is Safari 4. Fluid gets a mention also, this is an app which you use to make a application specific to a web site.
Oovoo is used for some video chatting with his mates which include Mark Sheppard who was featured in the previous podcast and Rob Saunders who will be in a Podcast here soon and Michael uses a Logitech web cam to get the video in.

Chris Marshall lives in the south of Spain and enjoys his cats and Harleys sharing his many Apple computers. Even his cats have their own web site, now that is definitely geeky. At least they have been spayed, thats’s the cats not the Harleys !! In his humble abode he has iPods coming out of his ears, in the bathroom, on the roof, probably in the bedroom also. You have to have music wherever you go.

Chris suspects that we mac users could be unofficial beta testers for many of the offerings from Apple. What do you think ??

As an instant message addict, he likes to use Adium as well as a bit of iChat and of course some Skype for chatting and video. Brings in photos mostly through Adobe Lightroom. A bit of photoshop for tidying up. A huge fan of iMovie using it to do work to collate footage shot off a helmet cam while trekking around on a Quad bike. Sounds like fun ??

Chris is obsessive about backing up after falling foul to not having backed up things properly before. He has backups using SuperDuper and kept in a firesafe offsite. Drop box is used but not for making backups, he uses it for sharing files around. Chris even has an Amazon S3 account but would not consider using the cloud back up way as a primary back up strategy.

A favourite app is iWatermark and I mentioned one I like called Jumpcut.

TvMaxPlus for having Tv on your Mac

Favourite iPhone Applications

QIK – Note to Self and PDAnet

All used on a jailbroken iPhone and uses the maps book mark feature on it to know where the car is parked to be able to find it afterwards.
